Faux Discx has two new releases lined up for the next couple of months. The CMYK series continues with FAUX013 - MAGENTA and FAUX014 - YELLOW.
MAGENTA features two songs a piece from San Diego’s Ale Mania who play genre-hopping, weirdo post-punk, and Brighton / London’s Sauna Youth. SY play straight-up punk pushed through a miriad of delay and reverb, like watching a blockbuster movie with the tracking screwed up. Weird and satisfying.
YELLOW marks the return of Calgary’s Friendo who’s songs Basement Fever described as “woozy, reverberating jams spanning all kind of genres and influences (you can hear bits of punk, 60s-style pop, and an experimental, noisy edge) are all kinds of ace.” Which pretty much hits the nail on the head. They share the wax with their Canadian compadres Lab Coast who present their garage indie low in fidelity and high in hooks. Kinda like pop music beamed to a radio placed in the middle of a corn field on a sunny day. Something like that.
Both of these releases are limited to 300 copies worldwide. You can pre-order them now and will be released 25 July and 8 August respectively.
